Mangatowai presents an exciting and challenging array of opportunities for the future! The project centres on establishing an innovative, energy-creating, multi-purpose marae that fosters cultural interaction and new sustainable enterprises.
These initiatives will benefit not only the tangata whenua of Mangatowai but also for the Whangaroa district and the whole of Aotearoa.
Our hope is that the seed planted during the Mangatowai Project launch on Saturday, 29 October 2005 will grow into a tree . . . a tree whose roots are deeply embedded in the rich soil of our ancestors and whose branches will spread wide to shelter the generations to come.
Our dream is that this growth and shelter will nourish not just the tangata whenua but all cultures who have made Aotearoa New Zealand their home and, with their skills and labour, have helped our nation achieve its proud place in the world.
We welcome you to explore our site and share our dreams as we work to ensure a lasting and worthy living memorial to our ancestors and to those who have worked to develop this concept and bring it to fruition.
